Abundant place

This project records my observations and reflections on my mother and my homeland in the Mekong Delta, where she has lived for nearly 70 years and has never left. Looking back at the photos I’ve taken of her over the past five years, I see a steady consistency in the way she lives: at home, in the garden, calm and resilient, just as she appears in old family photos from her youth. It often makes me wish she could see more of the world, but she always says everything she needs is already here.

During a six-week trip across Europe, the excitement of new places mixed with an unexpected longing for home, and that contrast made me appreciate her even more. I began placing her old photos beside my new ones, letting images from abroad reflect softly onto moments from her daily life. Taken from a distance or from behind, the photos echo the quiet way I observe and care for her. Together, they reveal a bond that feels steady, tender, and abundant.
